Performing Arts
Every year, each grade level at Sierra Madre School, K-5, performs at a Spotlight Assembly. The six annual Spotlight Assemblies have two purposes:
- to provide an opportunity to recognize each student during the course of the school year for his/her unique gifts,
- to give each student the benefit of a high quality Arts experience aligned to the VAPA Standards and Framework and delivered by Performing Arts Specialists, Lynneanne Hanson-Miller (dance), Emily Clark and Gayle Bluemel (music and theatre).
The theme for the Spotlight Assemblies supports the school-wide Visual and Performing Art focus and provides a common curriculum connection which is found reflected in individual classrooms as well as in the other Arts opportunities offered throughout the school.
